Early in his student days in Germany, when Nara had neither the intention nor any outlets to show his work, he created this piece using trash-like materials around him. He later came to believe that there was something of his essence in this type of work. Even though he had already parted with this piece, he bought it back.
The works that come from a simple desire to paint or to create, like in his student days, are the ones that often end up being important works that Nara wants to show. Miss Forest (ceramic) was created at a time when he had become familiar with the medium, and he was able to naturally immerse himself in the process. Without any sketching or planning, his hands moved on their own and created, resulting in this face at this scale.

In order to view himself objectively, Nara incorporated many elements of play in creating this work. It is similar to children playing house, mimicking adults.
